Developed custom ETL applications using VB.NET for each client to implement data clean-up, normalization, and migrations and integrations across Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle systems, including PL/SQL or T-SQL as needed.

    • Elevate Digital - opened a Las Vegas satellite office for Chicago-based digital media company. LEad project to implement smart-city technologies for Caesars properties. Built and deployed a network of free-standing interactive, touch-screen kiosks across The Linq, Paris, Flamingo, and Bally’s resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Developed integrations with Facebook and twitter to allow people to take a selfie using the kiosk which would insert a custom background and post to social media. Developed a VB.NET and MS-SQL Server driven Hotel; Check-In Touch-Screen Kiosk for The Linq. It allowed arriving guests to scan their ID or passport, then it would look up their reservation in the hotel reservation system, offer to add upgrades and amenities, then encode a plastic room key-card and dispense it.
  • 8/2009 - 9/2010 URS (E.G\&G.) – Enterprise Database Administrator. Migrated several disparate stand-alone legacy enterprise applications in a high-security sensitive national defense-sensitive environment (TS-SCI) into a new MS-SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise database cluster and schema for the enterprise CostPoint implementation. Included implementation of Cognos BI reporting features, and integration of enterprise report templates. Migration and development of site-specific Excel and other types of custom reports to Cognos BI Reports.
  • 1/2009 - 8/2009 - Furniture Expressions - Developed master template website and backing data layer using C# and T-SQL to build a platform powering 9 online furniture e-commerce sites.
  • 9/2007 - 12/2008 - Opened and operated a beachfront breakfast and barbecue café in Laie, Honolulu, Hawaii. Built a custom point-of-sale and inventory system using VB.NET and MS-Access.
  • 1/2004 - 8/2007 - Worked with a team of retired engineers and the Department of Veteran Affairs in a federal technology transfer program. Highlights include porting the VA’s VistA/CPRS Electronic Healthcare Records from its proprietary MUMPS implementation to open-source GT.M and released OpenVista, a full-featured open-source Electronic Healthcare Record System. Developed several other applications using VB 6 for use by administrative and clinical staff. For example, an early foot-switch activated video otoscope image capture program.
  • 1/2003 - 12/2003 - State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs - Forensic Investigator III. Worked with Department Leadership to define and develop a set of tools for analyzing business filings and flag specific anomalies, disallowed filers, etc. Developed document scanning operations to allow clerks to OCR filed documents then verify the data before committing the record to the database and saving the scanned image to a CD storage array (jukebox). Used MS-SQL Server and VB5/6.
  • 6/1999 - 12/2002 - Designed, developed, and built a city-wide WiFi network in Honolulu using early (2MBps) WiFi technology. Developed a custom ASP.NET website with VB.NET and MS-SQL Server to accept payments using Authorize.net, then using Active Directory with DHCP allocate routable IP addresses to allow public Internet access via WiFi in downtown Honolulu and Wiaikiki. Sold to Oceanic Time-Warner.
